Printables vol. 2 – I actually opened my shop!

I’ve been a very busy bee these last 5 days, and have managed to open my Storenvy shop! Sadly not with jewelry and accessories like I wanted to, because of that darn P.O.Box thing, but I can sure as hell still sell downloads, and that’s what I started doing. The same day I posted about my new passion for printables, I uploaded my first product that’s officially for sale, and it’s been going good since.

Yesterday, I added a door hanger to the selection, and today I put up a calendar containing the 3 months of spring. I will of course start working on a summer version for June, July and August before the current calendar expires, but right now I’m very happy with the stuff I have up already. Maybe 3 listings ain’t much, but to me it’s the world right now. I’m having so much fun creating these printables, and I hope it reflects in my work. I print everything I make myself before putting it up for sale, to make sure it’s working as intended, and that the quality is top notch.

It’s funny though, as the only printables I wanted to do were to-do lists, but I haven’t made a single one yet. I want to draw them by hand, so it will take quite a while before I have some ready. I really love to-do lists though, they are great time savers, and I want to let people enjoy my way of planning things. I really hope that they will help out others, so I want to plan them carefully, and make them appealing to as many people as possible.

Right now, I’m just happy with having this up and running. I will continue to create various printables, so keep an eye on my Storenvy, or follow me on Instagram or Tumblr where I always update my creations. I also went and made another Pinterest account only for stuff that I sell, and of course repins of other neat stuff within the same category.

Besides making printables, I finally leveled my Ninja to 70, and Dark Knight will follow soon. I’m also reading more Dante again, and am quite confident, that I’ll complete the book this month. When I get an idea for how to design the ‘find me here’ buttons in the menu here I will change them, because they are just too clunky when there are more than 3 or 4 of them. I have 6 now after adding Tumblr and Storenvy, and I’d also like to add my Pinterest, so yeah, it just looks ugly!

That’s it from me right now. It’s barely noon here, but I want to take the rest of the day off (can I even say that, being early retired and all?). I want to just sit in front of the TV and watch anime and eat unhealthy food for a few hours, maybe read some more Dante, and overall just be lazy. Yep, after what I’ve got done within just a short amount of time, I deserve to pamper myself a little 🙂

Crafty February – Summary

As mentioned in an earlier post, I wanted to try and craft something every day during February. The project was inspired by Inktober, which I sadly didn’t complete, but I still learned that it doesn’t take much for me to get the ball rolling. Having crafted very little lately, I decided to do something about it, and started Crafty February.

My rules were simple; craft something every day. I also wanted to only use materials that I already had, so even if I bought something new during the month, I’d not use it. I broke that rule twice, as I found some nice charms and a necklace that I wanted to use, but hey, it was second hand jewelry, so it’s not like I wasted a ton of money there.

I also wanted to craft twice if I skipped a day, which I was sure I’d do, seeing as February had some birthdays in the family. But nope, I actually did craft every day, and only once posted my craft on IG 2 mins after midnight. I even crafted 2 items one of the days, and could relax the next one, haha.

It also got me out of my comfort zone, which was very nice. I usually make bracelets in a style and with materials I know, so I’ve had a lot of stuff just lying around, thinking I’d use them… eventually. Well, this month kind of forced me to think outside of the box, so I finally did get to use new materials, learned new methods, and overall just broadened my horizon.

As far as playing it safe on some days, yeah, I did that too. I used my empty tea cups as backup for some of the days where I knew I wouldn’t have any energy and time in the end. Making a tea cup candle is a simple task for me now, as I’ve gotten used to it, so it was nice to complete a craft within just a few minutes. I only did that twice though.

Here’s a list of what I made:

17 bookmarks (12 tassels)

2 tea cup candles

3 necklaces

4 phone straps

2 pairs of earrings

1 keychain accessory

4 pins

14 bracelets

4 painted seashells

I’ve never done phone straps before, although I had the materials for them lying around, and it was also my first time to make a keychain accessory. The pins are for my new pinboard, and I will make more later this month. It was my first time using my tiny rhinestones, crimps and tubes, and also doing a real stretch bracelet. I’ve finally learned how to make sliding knots, and overall just tried out a few ideas I’ve had in mind for a while. So yeah, it was a huge success for me, and I’m very happy with the result!

Other than doing some pins, I will probably take a small break now, get done with Dante, and then write more on my story. I actually think I’m getting pretty good at making plans for myself that I can keep up with! Of course I still have tons of goals that are unreachable for me right now, but I’ll get to them at some point 🙂

Below is a gallery of everything I did, with descriptions about how I got the idea, why I wanted to make it, and what parts were second hand. I’m including the second hand thing to prove that old things can be turned into new stuff without even looking old at all.

Crafty February

Let me tell you about my plans. My plans to take over the world! Well okay, that’s not a hobby of mine… But I do like to craft, and I’ve decided to let February be the month of crafting for me. Although I didn’t really complete Inktober, it has inspired me to start my own little challenge for myself. The idea came to me when I looked through my crafting materials and thought “I have a lot of sweet shit!”, but I very rarely get to do something with it, and would like to change that.

I’ve got both old and new ideas for crafts, and even have half done stuff lying around, that I just never got to finish. It’s about time I change that, and kick myself in my sorry behind! So the plan with Crafty February is, that I complete these crafts, and do at least one craft every day of the month! And I only want to use materials that I already have, so no more buying new stuff because I think that I need more materials for a specific idea. I’m gonna look through my stuff, and when I find something that fits an idea, I’m gonna realize it.

It doesn’t matter what I craft. It could be a simple bracelet, a keychain, bookmarks, tea cup candles, whatever! As long as I get something done, that’s the important part of it. I’m well aware that it will be hard to find the time on some days, but then I will do my best to craft 2 or more things on other days to keep up.

The plan is to post it on Instagram and Tumblr, but I might not do it every day, and just compile my feats into a weekly photo dump. The same goes for blogging about it here, which I will surely only do once a week, but of course much more elaborate than I would on either of the social media sites.

So yeah, that’s my plan for February! If you want to do something like that yourself, then here are the guidelines (not rules, it’s supposed to be fun, and rules are no fun!).

          Craft 1 thing every day.

If you skip a day, try to craft 2 things the next day.

The craft can be anything you like.

If you don’t make it all through the month, it doesn’t matter.

          Have fun!
