I’m interrupting my current stream of scheduled posts to bring some good news. Or at least I think they are good. It started about 2 years ago, give or take a few months or weeks, when I decided to draw Bakura for a friend, and for myself as well, seeing as he’s always been my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! character, and I’ve done him a few times, but this time I wanted to do a proper drawing of him and vectorize it to make it look crisp as fuck. I just never got around to it after said friend decided to act like an asshat towards me, basically ending our friendship from one minute to the next. I’m not even mad really, because she was dragging my mood down on a daily basis, so whatever. But enough about that, since this is about Bakura.
It was on my to-do list for 2 years already, but I just never did anything about it, or so I thought. Yesterday was the day when I decided to finally do something about that dang drawing, and I knew I had a scan of it lying around somewhere. When I finally found it, it was accompanied by an SVG file with the basic lineart done already. Okay, I’m officially old now, because I had forgotten that I did it… I didn’t only want to have basic lineart for this though, so I started playing around with the lines to make them thicker and thinner in some areas of the drawing, and although it was a heck of a lot of work, I really enjoyed doing it. It’s not possible to really fuck up a vector drawing, and it’s super easy to correct any mistake or former action without having to CTRL + Z my way out of everything, so it was a ton of fun!
It took only a few minutes for me to get back into using Inkscape, but I did make a logo for the town council 2 days ago, so I got a little into it again at that time already. I actually managed to complete the entire lineart and do the flat colors yesterday, and I was happy as freaking fuck. It looked sooo good already! But was I done yet? No. I remembered my plan from 2 years ago about covering the bottom of the drawing with gems and coins and I did those today in order to place them everywhere. Being done with that part, I also created a round shape behind him resembling the Egyptian sun, but it looked a bit heavy, so I made a white silhouette of the main image and placed it in-between. NOW I was done, and I was even happier than yesterday!
Seeing it all done really feels good, and even though I rarely ever like my own drawings anymore after a while, I still like this one a lot. Now, what to do with a completed drawing? I uploaded it to Redbubble, but seeing as it got taken down right away because of my keywords (I kinda had a feeling it would happen, haha), I saw no reason to upload it again, or try Society6 for that matter. Society6 actually suspended 2 of my Ghosty images a while ago (dunno when, they never told me, I just noticed it randomly), probably because someone’s ass started itching after seeing me use Pacman and Deadpool themes in my artwork. So yeah, no reason to upload more fan art, but it doesn’t matter much to me, seeing as what I’ve sold so far was stuff with original artworks anyway. I don’t wanna post it on IG or Tumblr either. I do state that I doodle, but I mainly use those account is that context when I sell printables or other things, and not just to post a random piece of artwork. Unless it’s Inktober, but I don’t think I’ll do that again. My DA is kinda old and dead, so I’ll stay away from there too. The only reason my account still exists is because people still favorite my render packs.
So I’ll just post it here. Voila!
